More Same

Still super hot-  sticky last night but had to get out.  Put the word out on facebook but real limited number of takers.  Anyone who skipped and could have made it missed out!

Been far too random

Haven't put anything together racing wise since my fall in Menominee.  I suppose that kept me off the bike some, had a couple annoying mechanical issues, it got hot, I needed a week of antibiotics to clear up a sinus infection etc. etc., but I keep going to races with high expectations to ride hard and have fun only to fall somewhat short on both counts.  Won't stop now, hoping I'm building character and karma.

While I feel like I haven't 'trained' for 4-5 weeks I definitely just keep having more and more fun riding bikes.

My brother is in town briefly and we got out to Stagecoach.  After braving 2 miles of itchy crap we decided to play in the river.  Super fun!  Was pleased to find that the main singletrack out there was in good shape too...  and that my front tire waited until after the ride to flat.

Got in a couple of half-assed moonlight kingdom criteriums.
Beating the heat by getting wet.
Picked up all this awesome stuff from twin 6

Gauntlet

Here is what I know...

The gorge...  the same gorge that I couldn't find here.  This one here...

Well, we linked it with this...

Via this stuff...

Which happens to be where THIS begins...  which seems to be some wicked awesome water that might just be possible to packraft when the water looks like it does above and not like it does in this crappy youtube video.

From Wolverine it would be a 50ish mile day or it could be done with only 10 miles or so of riding if you parked near the take-out point.  That might be nice because I can only picture the end of the day looking like this...

If you aren't scared of a few hundred wolves and some bear there may also be camping that might work out too...  and more of the river could also be added with careful research (I'm pretty sure it is more tame).

Beginning of a 2-3+ day trip investigating the Montreal, Brule, Bad, Black and more?

Beast 3 month update

Still going very strong and I love it.

Caved to adding nicer tires in the form of 3.7 Larry's.  While I did this I also adjusted/greased the hubs.  It is truly noticeably faster.  The impetus for this was that I am moving back out of the downtown area into the country next month and anticipate a whole lot of 20 mile round trips on this bike come fall/winter.

The difference was so great after that change that I was tempted to put the stock gearing back on...  but then again, it's probably right on for winter and this...

(usually reserved for daughter-  50 lb Dickie Dog is a bit much but either way, easy gearing is good)

Overall I a continue to be seriously happy with this bike.

More of the Zumbro by packraft

This was the section heading south from HWY 1 (not far from my new house fwiw) down to the road to Stagecoach.  Incredible scenery.  4.5 mph average with 1.5-2 mph of that being human powered.  Lots of riffles, lots of fun.

This was a 4.5 mile 'shuttle' by bike for a 9.7 mile paddle float.  Really awesome ~3 hour round trip.

Still have some more segments I REALLY want to get onto soon but this one needed to be knocked off now before the water drops.
